The shots were fired at the Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital on the North Side of Chicago, according to Chicago Police Department audio recordings.
One of the officers were shot in the head, according to the public recording.
“I have everybody that I can have coming guys. I have everybody I can coming,” a police dispatcher said in the audio. “What I need you guys to do is let me know where you are exactly what you’re doing, so that I can keep track of everything.”
A spokesperson for the CPD did not immediately return a request for comment.
Chicago City Council Member Andre Vasquez said in a post on Facebook that the suspect was in custody as of Saturday afternoon. Vasquez cautioned that the area around the hospital was still blocked off.
“THIS IS AN ACTIVE SITUATION!” he wrote. “Please shelter in place if you are in the surrounding area or avoid the area.”
Endeavor Health confirmed that the hospital is on lockdown in a statement, and said that law enforcement was on the scene.
