Judith Adams, 71, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Boar’s Head and Publix after her husband, Otis Adams Jr., died from listeriosis allegedly contracted from Boar’s Head ham purchased at a Publix in Florida. This is the first lawsuit linking a death to a product other than liverwurst in a nationwide listeria outbreak that has caused 59 hospitalizations and 10 deaths across 19 states. The CDC warns the true number of cases may be higher. Boar’s Head has pledged to enhance food safety programs in response to the outbreak.
