Pop sensation Taylor Swift, who achieved billionaire status late last year, concluded her global Eras Tour on Sunday, amassing an unprecedented $2 billion in ticket sales, as confirmed by her production company to The New York Times. This figure is double that of any previous tour in history.
This confirmation marks the first instance of Swift’s team releasing data regarding the highly speculated Eras Tour. Prior to this, Pollstar, a music industry trade publication, had estimated the tour’s earnings to have surpassed the billion-dollar threshold by last November, based on box office reports, venue capacity estimates, and other research.
According to Swift’s team, 10,168,008 fans attended the 149 shows held across six continents, with an average ticket price of $204, despite secondary market prices soaring into the thousands. The $2 billion gross surpasses the previous record of $1 billion set by Coldplay’s 156-date Music of the Spheres World Tour in August.
Swift also set several other records during the Eras Tour, including attendance records at venues like Wembley Stadium, the highest-grossing concert film of all time, and the record for the most mobile data used during a single concert.
