Donald Trump Named Time’s Person Of The Year—For Second Time

On Thursday, Donald Trump was recognized as Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” for 2024, following his recent electoral victory. This marks the second occasion on which the publication has honored the president-elect.
Time cited Trump’s selection as being due to his ability to orchestrate a remarkable political comeback, which included a significant political realignment and a transformation of the American presidency, as well as a redefinition of the United States’ role on the global stage.
In a competitive selection process, Trump surpassed notable figures such as Vice President Kamala Harris, Kate Middleton, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, billionaire Elon Musk, and podcast host Joe Rogan.
During an interview with Time, Trump expressed his intention to consider pardoning individuals involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots on a “case-by-case” basis, suggesting he could initiate this process within the first few minutes of his presidency.
Time also highlighted that Trump had previously incited the violent events at the Capitol following his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
