Nasdaq Rises To All-Time High—Hitting 20,000 For First Time

On Wednesday, the Nasdaq Composite reached a historic milestone, surpassing 20,000 for the first time in its 53-year existence, driven by a surge in tech-based stocks. The index, known for its heavy concentration of technology companies, climbed 1.7% to 20,029.53 by approximately 12:20 p.m. EST. Concurrently, the S&P 500 saw an increase of about 0.8%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 50 points, or 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite, which encompasses nearly all stocks listed on the Nasdaq exchange, has risen over 35% this year and 38% over the past year. The broader market rally that underpinned Nasdaq’s ascent was led by significant gains in Broadcom (up 5.2%), Alphabet (4.7%), Crowdstrike (4.6%), and Tesla (3.3%), along with notable increases in major companies like Nvidia (2.5%) and Amazon (2.4%).
