A comet known as C/2024 S1 or the ATLAS comet, discovered in September 2024, may become visible to the naked eye starting October 24. It is believed to be a fragment of the Great Comet of 1106 and originates from the Oort Cloud. There is uncertainty if it will remain visible as it approaches the sun, as it may break apart and evaporate.
